Flu Information
YMG Flu vaccination Programme 2025
As per NHS England guidelines, the winter vaccination programme which includes Flu & Covid vaccinations will commence from 4th October 2025.
If you fall into the at risk category you will be sent information in September on how to book your appointment for any of the vaccinations required.
Clinics will be available at our Acomb, Monkgate, Tower Court, Water Lane and Woodthorpe surgeries.
We will commence our clinics from Monday 15th September for children and 22nd September for pregnant Women(as per NHS Guidance) on weekdays and from Saturday 4th October we will have Saturday appointments.
Children aged 2-3 years vaccines we will be in contact with parents/carers to invite them to book appointments in the next few weeks.
All other school-aged children will be offered their vaccine via schools and we will not be able to see them at York Medical Group. If they miss their flu vaccine at school more information can be found at schoolvaccination.uk
At Risk Groups for Flu are:
- are aged 65 or over
- are pregnant
- live in a care home
- are the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer’s allowance
- live with someone who has a weakened immune system
Or if you have any of the below long term health conditions:
- conditions that affect your breathing, such as asthma (needing a steroid inhaler or tablets), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or cystic fibrosis
- heart conditions, such as coronary heart disease or heart failure
- chronic kidney disease
- liver disease, such as cirrhosis or hepatitis
- some conditions that affect your brain or nerves, such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis or cerebral palsy
- diabetes or Addison’s disease
- a weakened immune system due to a condition such as HIV or AIDS, or due to a treatment such as chemotherapy or steroid medicine
- problems with your spleen, such as sickle cell disease, or if you’ve had your spleen removed
- a learning disability
- being very overweight – a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above
At Risk Groups for Covid are:
- adults aged 75 years and over
- residents in care homes for older adults
- individuals who are immunosuppressed aged 6 months and over
Clinic Dates Adults
We will have clinics available at all sites with appointments on weekdays and we will Saturday clinics with limited availability.
Please be advised that some clinics may already be fully booked. As we progress through October more sessions will be added as necessary.
