Medical Receptionist

Working Pattern: Part-Time Shifts TBC

Our opening hours start at 7:45am – 6:30pm

Tues – 7.45 – 5.45 – 30 min unpaid break, Weds 8.30- 5 – 30 min unpaid break , Thurs 11.30- 6.30- 30 mins unpaid break, Fri 8 – 6.30 -30 mins unpaid break

Salary: £11.63 an hour

Site: Acomb/Woodthorpe

We have an opening for a receptionist to join our existing team. The ideal candidates should be friendly and approachable, have excellent customer service skills, be computer literate, have an excellent telephone manner and be a flexible team player. Given that we are still working within a pandemic and the challenges health care provides are constantly facing, it is essential for candidates to be resilient, we also find a good sense of humour really helps!

Main duties include; greeting patients, booking appointments, registering new patients to the practice, processing and distribution of prescriptions, answering incoming telephone calls or dealing with patients with Klinik Forms and general enquiries.

Knowledge of Systmone booking system or experience of working within a GP surgery would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.

This is a very busy environment to work in with a constant demand for appointments, but you will be working with a great time of people who will support you along the way.

We have an opening for a site lead at our very busy Acomb site. The ideal candidate will have a good standard of education, knowledge of working in a GP surgery, experience of managing a reception team, preparing staff rota’s and have excellent customer service skills. You should be friendly and approachable, be computer literate, have an excellent telephone manner and be a flexible team player.

Main duties include: Supporting the team in providing excellent customer service ensuring the site runs efficiently and effectively – being the first port of call for maintenance, health and safety and everyday staffing issues. Proactively communicating information between patients, doctors and other health care professionals and the senior management team.

The ideal candidate: Needs to be totally flexible, have a good sense of humour a great communicator, able to multitask, work accurately and have an eye for detail. Knowledge of Systmone booking system or experience of working within a GP surgery would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given.

Deputy Site Lead

We have an opening for a Deputy site lead to join our existing team at YMG Tower Court. The ideal candidate should have a good standard of education, knowledge of working in a GP surgery, experience of managing / standing in for the site lead of a team of receptionists and the ability to amend rotas when and if needed. Be friendly and approachable, have excellent customer service skills, be computer literate, have an excellent telephone manner and be a flexible team player.

Main duties include; Supporting the team in providing excellent customer service, training of new staff, ensuring the site run smoothly and efficiently covering for the site lead as well as other generic duties including, greeting patients, booking appointments, registering new patients to the practice, processing and distribution of prescriptions, answering incoming telephone calls or dealing with patients with Klinik Forms and general enquiries.

Lead Scheduler/Rota Co-Ordinator

Working Pattern: Full-time 37.5hrs per week

We have a diversified workforce made up of GPs, ANPs, UCPs, Nurses, Assistant Practitioners, Health Care Assistants, Care Coordinators, Link Workers and Mental Health Workers.

We are looking for a motivated, friendly, experienced individual to join our Scheduling Team and work alongside a team of three, in order to support with the planning and uploading of the schedules onto our clinical system.

For the schedulers role, the ideal candidate must be competent using Microsoft Excel and be computer literate, have an eye for detail and be able to work well within a team as well as on your own. Experience of using SystmOne would be an advantage, however training will be given to the right candidate.

Desirable Skills for Lead Role:

-Managing a team, ie conducting appraisals, return to work meetings, annual leave and ensuring the team’s well-being.

-Liaising confidently between senior management teams and other department heads

-Workload management. Managing the team’s inbox, the allocation of work and project support.

-Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions

-Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Essential skills required:

-Communication skills to accurately convey important information over the phone, in person or via email or IM .

-Professionalism to communicate in a polite and timely manner

Clinical Pharmacist

York Medical Group (a large, inner-city practice serving a population of approximately 45,000 patients) is looking for an enthusiastic, forward-thinking experienced Pharmacist with a passion for service development, planning for the future and improving the quality of patient care. The successful candidate will join our diversified team of pharmacist prescribers, pharmacy technicians and prescription clerks as well as having the opportunity for multi-disciplinary working with other departments within the practice.

The pharmacy team drive the focus on reducing some of the burdens placed on the GPs by promoting the electronic repeat dispensing service, reducing inappropriate polypharmacy and wasteful prescribing through medication reviews, working with the complex care team to review care home patients, increasing safety mechanisms through audits and PDSA cycles, implementing drug withdrawals and alerts, and contributing to reductions in medication related hospital admissions and re-admissions by supporting patients to get the best outcome from their medicines.

In addition to the day-to-day duties, the successful candidate will be trained to oversee the anticoagulation service and will also be encouraged to develop in another clinical area of interest. They will also be expected to be proactive, flexible, possess good time management skills and be able to prioritise workload.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and promote the repeat dispensing service
  • Increase safety mechanisms such as audit and PDSA cycles
  • Implement drug withdrawals and alerts
  • Reduce inappropriate poly-pharmacy and wasteful prescribing through clinical medication review
  • Contribute to reductions in medicate related hospital admissions and readmission by supporting patients to get the best outcome from their medicines and identifying and addressing medicine related issues
  • Reconcile medicines following hospital discharge and work with patients and community pharmacists to ensure patients receive the medicines
  • Work within the Group to undertake medication reviews particularly in high risk groups such as frail elderly, substance misuse and patients on high risk medicines
  • Improve prescribing practice through educational support for all prescribers within the practice
  • Run and oversee the YMG Anticoagulation service using the surgery’s protocol
  • Lead on where changes in evidence require changes in prescribing across patient population eg where a drug is withdrawn or indications change
  • Ensure patient safety when they are transferred between care providers through reconciliation of prescribed medicines
  • To attend and contribute to meetings as requested
  • To keep up to date with changes within own area of expertise and ensure appropriate personal development
